Legally Blonde

Based on the popular film, and adapted with intelligence and contemporary awareness, this show traces the ascent of popular blonde sorority girl Elle Woods into the highest echelon of law students at Yale. The story of a young woman who is constantly underestimated but never discouraged, this is a smart, up-to-date musical which celebrates girl power, diversity, and the power of clear thinking. An abundance of interesting roles makes this an attractive show for schools and other venues where large cast sizes are possible.

Scenery

The set design by J Branson is designed to move swiftly throughout the show’s many scenes and numerous distinct locations. As with many stage shows that were adapted from film screenplays, this show takes place in many, many locations, making it imperative to have a set which can morph from scene to scene with speed and ease. This set is designed to achieve those many changes, and can be used in two different configurations —one for venues where scenery can be flown in and out, and one where only the rolling pieces are used.

The amusing costumes by Leon Dobkowski stylishly track Elle Woods’ unerring fashion sense, which she brandishes as a tool as she climbs a unique ladder to personal success. With wry commentary on popular culture, the extensive wardrobe for this show includes sorority girls, cheerleaders, college students, university professors, beauty shop denizens, orange-suited jump-roping prisoners, and various colorful characters at a murder trial.
