Located in the heart of the country, Music Theatre Wichita has been producing shows for 50 years has and compiled a large inventory of professionally-built props, costumes, and sets for many popular Broadway shows that rent to theaters and educational institutions nationwide.* A complete list of shows available can be found in the Show Inventory Tab listed A-Z. Our main stage is within a 2,100 seat concert hall, which has a double purchase fly system with 41 line sets (including dedicated electrics). The stage opening is 58' wide by 29' tall, though we typically portal this down to 44'x21'-6". The stage is 48' deep and has an additional 500 sq ft of wing space on both stage left and right. Some shows are built with the need for auxiliary offstage space (items such as the Ship from The Little Mermaid).
The bulk of our inventory has been built over the 49-year history of Music Theatre Wichita's summer productions. Our scenery is built to withstand as many repeat productions as possible. We typically muslin cover all hard scenery and ship on trucking casters (when possible) to help protect the package in transit. Costumes ship in ether gondolas or hampers, depending on the piece and package and are checked before and after each rental. Properties will usually ride in scenic units to save space on the truck pack, some road boxes are available for several packages.
*MTW Rentals is happy to rent full packages (sets-costumes-props-drops-projections) as well as separate components such as scenery only, costumes only, and select prop packages. However, other than scenic backdrops, MTW Rentals is not able to rent individual items (individual props, costumes, or scenic units).
