Me and My Girl

This delightful song-and-dance musical, a smart re-working of a popular 1930s British romp, was a surprising hit in London in 1984, and an even bigger surprise when it triumphed on Broadway in 1986. One of the funniest shows ever written, Me and My Girl is a kind of reverse My Fair Lady, with a Cockney lad suddenly learning that he has inherited an earldom, and now he must learn how to be a more refined British gentleman before he can take his place as head of the stuffy household.

The colorful costume package for Me and My Girl was designed by B. Modern for a cast of 30, and includes stylish clothing for the British aristocracy of the 1930s, plus a company of Cockney street folk, a retinue of liveried household staff, a ballroom full of posh guests, a gaggle of dancing tennis players, and a rogue’s gallery of ancient ancestors who magically come to life from their portraits.
