Catch Me If You Can

Despite a shorter-than-hoped-for Broadway run, this tuneful and intriguingly plotted new musical from the Hairspray team is finding strong life in regional theatres and schools.  Catch Me if You Can is based on the astonishing real-life exploits of chameleon-like con man Frank Abagnale Jr., and draws from the Tom Hanks / Leonardo DiCaprio film, as well. Unlike the Broadway production, which was staged more like a concert with the band onstage, this design features colorful and swiftly moving set pieces and projections, adaptable to a variety of stage spaces and configurations. The result is a colorful and engaging true life story, compellingly brought to musical life, and a show your audiences may not have seen.

Catch Me If You Can features dozens of colorful costumes by Dixon Reynolds. Vividly period-appropriate, they include showgirls and chorus boys, stewardesses and pilots, nurses and doctors, “Sing Along with Mitch” singer-dancers, FBI men, a Southern family, New York commuters, and three “Vanna White” type TV hostesses. The costume package was created for a larger cast than was used on Broadway.
