King and I, The

Rodgers and Hammerstein’s melodic journey to 1862 Bangkok has proven to be one of their most enduring and constantly surprising works. The conflict between English schoolteacher Anna Leonowens and His Royal Highness the King of Siam effectively mirrors a larger struggle for Easterners and Westerners to understand each other. The delicacy, beauty, and grandeur of Thailand are beautifully captured in this collection of backdrops by master artist XuZheng He. Impeccably detailed and breathtakingly dimensional, these impressive drops were originally painted in 1991, then lovingly refreshed in 2002. (Schoolroom maps not available.)
