Oklahoma!

This rich, vibrant musical marked the debut of the team of Richard Rodgers and Oscar Hammerstein, and changed the face of musical theatre by fully coordinating all elements of the production - most notably the script, the score and the choreography. The MTWichita package offers a similarly unified presentation, with stylized sets and props, and costumes which attractively complete the picture. Evoking the look of windblown prairie dwellings, this complete Oklahoma! package was created in 2003, and fully refurbished in 2016, including an elegant 4-person surrey.

Scenery

Bruce Brockman’s attractive, painterly sets are easily loaded in and assembled, and provide a stylish landscape for the drama, with a series of particularly evocative backdrops. In addition to the locations specified in the script, this package also includes the train station, in case your artistic team chooses to perform “Kansas City” in this setting, as was done in the film and the 2002 Broadway revival. Also, Aunt Eller’s home is self-contained and can be rotated to any side, in case more variety is desired in the looks of the different scenes.

Costumes for a large cast were re-designed and assembled by Debbie Roberts in 2016. Additional costumes for small children may be available upon request. The look is colorful and appropriate, with several nice touches that delineate specific characteristics of the leading players. The ensemble costumes are comfortable and danceable.
