Sound of Music, The
Rodgers and Hammerstein’s final collaboration has proven to be their most beloved work, with the fact-based story of the Austrian von Trapp Family inspiring a devoted following. At Nonnberg Abbey, the restless postulant Maria struggles to fit in, until the Mother Abbess sends the young woman to serve as nanny to the seven children of Captain von Trapp. The rich musical score includes “My Favorite Things,” “Do-Re-Mi,” “Climb Ev’ry Mountain,” “Sixteen Going on Seventeen,” and the soaring title song.
